I am Sonia Ripamonti, born in Milan by but an island girl by heart (Sicilian DNA from my mother). I live in Sardinia, an island of wind, unspoiled nature and magical energy. I am passionate about art, design and anything done with a unique passion. "I don't believe in human beings" as Marco Mengoni italian sings, "but in the power of nature". A sensitivity that I have trained since childhood, when my mother made me attend the scouts.
For years I have been running an event agency, Special Occasion Services, (mainly weddings, and anniversarie organisations), but in 2019 I was a little tired of organizing the usual events, I saw too much selfishness, too much disinterest in the fate of the planet, too much consumerism and trade in useless things, too much production of nonsense, or articles that pretend to do good. Without ethics. I decide to use events to do something good, to leave a positive message, to educate and raise awareness. To make my contribution to a better world. There is a great need especially during the most beautiful time of the year: Christmas. Where it says "we are all better", ready to give and share.
From that the idea of a "Green Christmas" was born, and the first Green Christmas Market was organized by me. Everyone in that period was looking for the "perfect gift", most of the time falling back into useless purchases that often fuel the consumerism that pollutes. Thanks to this event I educated the customer in purchasing by choosing handmade items of a craftsman, 0 km products, artwork or directing the clients to the choice of a company that aims to respect nature. But really, not only because it says on the label of a package, perhaps even in plastic! Giving value to those who create and supporting small businesses was the main mission. But also educate to purchase without arguing about the price, but rather see the value of buying something made by skilled craftsmen with passion to create eco friendly products and reused materials. The purchase is good for the producer, the planet and the receiver.
With the pandemic, there was a full stop in organizing events.
Maybe it was destiny.
Nature blocked me from creating any events - no-one could plan weddings or any other events, and I felt it was right to defend her, Mother Nature, by dedicating myself to other things to help. The only thing left to me from the last event I was organizing, was to keep it going. I decide to call it The Green Life , because that is how it should be. It all started with Mother Nature, a planet of which we are guests. A green oasis where you can cultivate the green lifestyle and spirit by following advices for a sustainable life, participating in social initiatives and shopping for a good cause.
I transferred the Green Christmas Market online to broaden the horizons, beyond the Christmas period. I invent The Green Life Stories because selling online is difficult, especially because handcrafted items often wants to be seen and touched by hand. They must excite. So I these stories told directly by those who created them, through their stories, you can get a better feeling of the products. All natural, real, honest, nothing studied or planned. Natural just like the philosophy of the project.
